A classic French chocolate mousse that is rich, creamy, and incredibly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams dark chocolate
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 300 ml heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Fold the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture.
  4. In another bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form, then fold into the chocolate mixture.
  5. In a clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the chocolate mixture.
  6. Pour the mousse into individual serving dishes and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with a high cocoa content.
  • Ensure that no egg yolk gets into the egg whites for proper whipping.
  • Serve topped with whipped cream or chocolate shavings.
